Did my placement with fake twin at Royal Melbourne Hospital and we've learnt a lot...eg observing speech pathologists working with adult patients with different problems like swallowing problem due to stroke, dementia patients, patients with muscular atrophy and so on.
It was a great exposure to me..some say it's kinda depressing working with adults compared to kids coz of their medical conditions..hmm but i think i'd really, really like to work with adults in the future coz...i just feel like helping them..each time after a session i just felt like hugging the patients, telling them :"Good job!", "辛苦你了" and things like that..for some reason i just have a sense of affiliation with them.
no pictures for my placement coz i think it'd be a bit inappropriate to take pictures in the hospital, and we had to put our mobile phones into lockers too.
ahhh anyway, took lots of pictures these few days! enjoy!
went to St kilda beach with my friend on tuesday! have been anticipating this moment since the day i came to melbourne :D
saw this restaurant by the beach, nice atmosphere...but too bad the sea was kinda polluted, so i was a bit disappointed.
haha saw lots of peculiar stuffs along the street...eg aboriginal paintings on commonwealth bank atm, and this funny looking flyer distributing board :D
beautiful apartment
acland street, which is very near to st kilda beach is a great place with lots of cafes and bakeries around. very very similar to lygon street in melbourne city, but with less people so less noisy+crowded. i love it coz i dun usually enjoy very crowded places. very relaxing place with the warm warm sun.
went to this italian restaurant to have lunch! great ambience.
my potato gnocchi with pork belly chunks inside..the pork belly was amazingly tender.
and after that we went to a bakery and pastry shop opposite to the italian restaurant in acland st!
there are lots and lots of shops selling pastries and it was realllly tempting! so we just randomly picked this place to have our afternoon tea.
wide range of cakes and pastries for u to choose!
my cappuccino...quite nice eh!
my long-awaited apple strudel! have been wanting to try apple strudel since young but just didn't have the chance to eat it..i know i'm very suaku laaa.. so it was a very sensational moment when i have my first bite of apple strudel....and....
cheh, no difference from apple crumble mah...both of them taste the same!
hahahaha~sometimes we tend to idealize a thing so much that we get disappointed at the end.
anyway it was quite nice!
my friend's fruit cheesecake!
and after that we headed off to luna park!
but it's mainly for kids...so i think Genting Highlands is much better, sorry ah.
next time should go on sunday and visit the st kilda market! i guess it'd be more fun! but tt was a very relaxing afternoon indeed =)
wednesday- had placement, it was goooood! just that we got to the wrong hospital (city campus) at first, so after that we took a cab to the parkville campus (royal park campus) and we were 15 minutes late..we were really really panicked under pressure.. oops. but the other first year speechie girl was even later than the two of us, due to the same reason! but luckily we all reached RMH earlier on the next day :)
after placement we hang around in the city and had afternoon tea there.
cheesecake donut at donut king! this is really really yummy! the best donut i've ever had..donut with pure cheesecake inside, how awesome it is! and the outer part of the donut was crispy and yum!
had claypot rice and xiao long bao for dinner in the city too. i ordered noodles. super bloated.
mediocre standard.
thursday --- the last day of our clinical placement! whoohoo...met up with yan jun in melbourne central! it's been a long time since i last seen her, and she's becoming even prettier than she was!
had a great great time in max brenner chocolate bar! the chocolate desserts they serve are amazingly good! so pure, so rich!
my chocolate dome..
passionfruit+strawberry drink
yan jun's super super yummy waffle..
when i tried it for the first bite, i was like...
me: AH!
yan jun: 怎么了?(what's wrong?)
me: 救命啊,很好吃!(oh my goodness, it's so delicious!)
hahaha..suaku evelyn..but it was really good, i recommend everyone in melb to try that!
yan jun's hot chocolate drink with marshmellows on top, yums!
realized i'm such a glutton during this semester break!
chocolatey moments on friday again! we had chocolate fondue last nite in FOCUS house! brought grapes, strawberries and cooking chocolate for the fondue!
busy phyllis melting the chocolate!
Wulan and I!
looks like loz, wulan and ziling enjoyed the fondue as well!
my apple+ rockmelon+ strawberry+banana kebab! (before)
after!
enjoyed the fondue and had great conversations with FOCUS people! love that!
